Candolim Beach

Candolim Beach, a part of a long stretch of beach coastline along the Arabian Sea, is situated in North Goa. This beach is less crowded, more beautiful and cleaner than other beaches of Goa. The best time to visit Candolim Beach is from October to March. There are number of hotels located on the beach front, all of which provide a very good view of the Candolim beach. This beach provides some water sports activities like water skiing and wind surfing (afternoon till sunset).

But you can avail these water sports activities usually on Sunday throughout the day. You get tempting sea food and western breakfast in some of the restaurants and at many places, you can be served with vegetarian food as well. There are many things to watch around the Candolim beach like Aquanda Fort, which was built by the Portuguese in 1612 and it is also a popular shooting spot for the Indian Bollywood movies. One more popular tourist spot is Quincy Corner, which is surrounded by grove of palms and coconuts and there are huts that serve a wide range of liquor with snack. You enjoy the scenic beauty of the sea with food and music on this beach.

Calangute Beach

Calangute Beach is the ‘queen of beaches’ for its unique beauty. It is often crowded with people and children making castles. It became popular across the globe only after the hippies discovered it in the 1960s. Calangute beach is a haven for the hippies. Calangute beach is situated on the shores of the Arabian Sea in the North of India’s Goa and It is encircled by Arpora-Nagoa, Saligao and Candolim, in the Bardez taluka, and is just 15 km from Panajim, the capital of Goa. Calangute beach offers some sports like parasailing, water skiing and wind surfing, which is available from afternoon to sunset. There is a Church called St. Alex with two towers and a magnificent dome in architectural style. The Kerkar Art Complex is also quite special center for exhibitions of arts and crafts of local artistes.

Colva Beach

Colva Beach is one of the finest beaches in Goa, India and It is the oldest, largest and the most spectacular of south Goa beaches. The best time to visit Colva Beach is from November to February. Colva beach is known as Goa’s most romantic beach. In the colonial days, it used to be the retreat for Margao’s high society, who used to come to Colva for their “Mundanca”, also called as change of air. The white sand of Colva Beach is so soft that you can walk barefoot anytime you want during the day. Tourists can enjoy the bicycle ride in the surrounding of the beach and speed boat rides. There are many shacks lined up, which offers delicious Goan cuisine. You can also enjoy cashew feni wine and coconut feni wine. Prawns and king fish are are two special food items you can enjoy in Goa. Other main attraction for the locals is the “Menino Jesus” statue at the local church of Igreja de Nossa Senhora de Piedade ( Our Lady of Mercy) founded in 1630. This is a place, which is visited by most of the foreign tourists.

Anjuna Beach

This beach is lined up with beautiful palm trees and November to February is the best months to visit Anjuna beach. This beach is famous for its Wednesday ‘flea market’ where people come from all over Goa and you can buy all kind of goods like Nepali goods, Tibetan goods, embroidered items, jewelry, semiprecious stones, crystals, fancy knives, handicrafts, hammocks etc. Tourists can buy fresh fruits, watermelons, pineapples and coconuts from the local vendors. You can also get a good massage at the beach. On the beach, loud sound systems are played during the day and thousands of people listen to the music and while watching the sunset. Anjuna is also known for the full-moon parties, held for young tourists, which is the major source of tourist attraction around the world.

Albuquerque Mansion is also one of the charming spots near Anjuna beach. This mansion was built in 1920 has number of classic balconies, which attract visitors to refresh them with a cool breeze.

Baga Beach

Baga beach in Goa is one of the top beaches in Goa where every tourist wants to go. It is known as an extension of Calangute beach and it is part of 30km long coastline beach area in the Arabian sea. Fort Aguada is the starting point of Baga beach and continues through Sinquerim beach, Candolim Beach, Calangute beach and finally ending at Chapora Beach. A number of sports activities happen here and nightlife is the best.
